Bushmead is a small district located at Luton Bedfordshire, a county in England’s eastern region, and is one of the town’s major suburbs.
Bushmead with an OS grid reference TL091242 has its boundary surrounded by Weybourne Drive at the north and Bradgers Hill Road at the south. It is surrounded by Old Bedford from the west and Stopsley Common from the east. The suburb’s dialing code is 01582.
Before becoming a Suburb, Bushmead mostly belonged to the Stopsley common farm, a farmhouse designed by the Putteridge estate in 1870. The building still stands at the same spot in Bushmead road to this day.
Bushmead is a residential area with a number of local academic institutions that include Bushmead Primary school and Luton Sixth Form. At the center of the area are several local shops, while at the right of it is the countryside with paths and many walks that leads to both Butterfield Green and Warden Hill. These places are popular sites for horse riders and dog walkers. Stopsley recreation centre can be accessed from Bushmead due to its proximity and is no more than a fifteen-minute walking distance.
The suburb primary school, Bushmead primary school, was recently inspected by The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) and was highly rated.
The town has some local attractions that draw a handful of tourists yearly. Some of its major attraction sites are the Wrest Park Gardens, Stockwood park, and the Stockwood discovery center.
The Stockwood discovery center, a museum, is one of the major attractions in the area as it displays archaeology, geology, local social history, and rural crafts. The museum houses the biggest collection of horse-drawn carriages in Europe, the Mossman Collection. Bushmead’s major source of transportation is by road.
