Round Green, a suburb of Luton Bedfordshire, can be located in the northeast area of the county. Round green has its boundary roughly surrounded by Bradgers hill from the north and bounded by Turners Road south and the park in Richmond Hill, from the south.
Round Green is bounded by Elmwood crescent and Wardown Crescent from the west, while Vauxhall way bound it from the east. The area dialing code is 01582.
Round Green is one of Luton’s oldest areas and references has been made about it from as far back as 1170. It was initially a Hamlet stationed between Leagrave, Stopsley, and Biscot and was known as Cowridge End.
Being one of Luton’s oldest places, the Suburb is known for its rich culture and historical buildings. On Hart Lane stands one of the suburbs’ biggest landmarks, a water tower that is Grade II-listed. The tower was constructed in 1900 after a drought in Stopsley Suburb and is a counter building to a lookalike water town at New Town. The tower also has a reputation of being among Luton’s most eminent points when having an eastward view from the town center.
The area includes The Luton Co-operative Club in Stockingstone road. Round green has several parks and untouched open areas, given its closeness to people’s parks and other green spaces in the High Town and Crawley area, respectively.
The Roundabout in Hitchin Road has the Suburb single trading pub built in the eighteenth century and still stands on the area Junction.
Round Green has a primary school, Richmond Hill West School, on Sunridge Avenue. The area does not have a secondary school, but is within the catchment areas of Ashcroft High School or Stopsley High School. Politically, Round Green, alongside Ramridge End and Tin Town, are parts of the larger Round Green Ward.
