South is a ward found in the suburb district of Luton. It is located southward of Luton’s Town center. South suburb has many streets such as : Park Town, Chapel Langley, New Town.
South is a district made up of commercial and residential buildings though the district is commonly referred to as a ‘working class district’. Following developmental strides towards Golf centre and Stockwood Park, it has occasioned the influx of new residents which has in no small measure, lifted the area.
South, having a large share of Luton’s town centre has a local business park where the local residents do business. It also has the famous Gypsy Lane park located on A1081, a stone throw from Castle Street, just adjacent the town centre. South’s centre also houses several pubs that are always ready to mesmerize the taste buds of foreigners and residents alike. This has made South one of the most visited districts in Luton, Bedfordshire, England.
As regards Education, South has a plethora of primary schools and two major secondary schools : Stockwood Park Academy and Barnfield college. South also has buildings that serve as an extension for the University of Bedfordshire.
South, occupying most of Luton’s Town Centre has access to almost all means of transportation. Its Buses are efficient in plying South roads and roads leading to other neighbouring districts. The London Luton Airport is also located in the South district. South District is also 5-minutes away from Luton Airport Parkway Railway station which serves as a strong linking point to Bedford and London.
South is also in good touch with its natural side as it houses Stockwood Park, River Lea and Luton hoo. These serve as testament of the tourism prowess of the South district as foreigners always troop in to have a nice time with nature and its inhabitants.
South, forming part of Luton South Parliamentary Constituency, had Rachel Hopkins (Labour) as its MP while the ward had three representatives : Clir Agbley(Labour), Clir Javeria Hussain (Labour), Clir Paul Castleman(Labour).
